As far back as the 90´s ’Jazz Podium’ already headlined their article on Joachim Raffel and his Big Band, the ‘Joachim Raffel Large Ensemble’, with ‘Sound Refinement’. Whether in the Big Band format or presented in smaller ways: the music of pianist, composer and percussionist stands for authenticity and a personal style developed over years, which conclusively connects and continuously develops the influences of modern and free jazz, classical roots and world music.
